The Giants Of Life

We have all heard the story about David and Goliath. Everyone was intimidated by this 9 foot giant, and didn't know how to conquer him.

We all have 'giants' in our lives. Giants that prevent us from growing. Giants that prevent us from having a better relationship, or making more money. We know they are there. They are so big, we are scared of them, and do not know how to get around them or defeat them. Think about your giant. If you were able to be like David and kill your Goliath, what could you become?

David had 3 things that helped him conquer Goliath. The first thing he had was desire. If you are passionate enough to make a change you will attack that giant. David didn't a strategy to kill Goliath. He didn't put plans together. He just stepped up, found a stone, and attacked. Fire, ready, aim instead of ready, aim, fire. You know the two types of kids at the pool. There's that kid who dips his toe in the water and feels how cold the water is. So he slowly steps down in to the water and tries to adapt to the cold water. Then there's the other kid. We all know that kid. Some of us are that kid. The kid who turns to mom, and says, "Watch this!" and does a cannonball right in to the pool. It's just as cold, and he'll shiver for only a minute, but he was able to adapt to the cold faster than the other kid who is still trying to put his whole body in. If you catch your giant off-guard, the faster and easier you can defeat them. Don't tip-toe your way to success, just jump in.

David also believed he can defeat Goliath. You have to believe you can defeat whatever giant is in your way. Any slight doubt, and that's all that Goliath needs to take you out. You have to have full faith that you can conquer whatever is in your way. If you attack with doubt, how strong do you think your attack will be? It's the boldness that strengthens your attack.

Finally, to conquer your giant, have a weapon. If you have a desire and you attack with a strong belief, it doesn't matter what type of weapon you have, just anything that can strike effectively. All David had was a stone. Nothing special. It's been said in the sports industry that its the defense that wins ball games, but you cant win if you don't put any points on the board with an offense. It doesn't matter what of weapons you have on that offense as long as you attack with a desire to win and a belief that you can win.

Giants in our lives may be big and we develop this fear of them. Just remember that fear is an acronym, False Evidence Appearing Real. You are afraid of something that hasn't even happened yet. But if you have faith; the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen, you can do it! You can succeed. You can defeat your giant.

Live To Dream Big!
